New app aims to replace hotel phone systems

Australian internet service provider Broadband Solutions has launched a new app designed to replace the in-room hotel phone.

Smartphone BBS works with Broadband Solutions SmartPABX cloud based phone system to automatically provision each guest with a unique local number that can be used for the duration of their stay.

Guests download the app upon arrival and enter their room number and surname to be allocated their extension. The app can be used at any hotel utilising the SmartPABX phone system.

“We currently provide Internet solutions to 85 per cent of Australian hotels, so this technology is set to change the status quo when it comes to hotel connectivity,” said Sam Bashiry, managing director of Broadband Solutions.” International guests can use the number as their local number, effectively enabling the use of their overseas handsets in Australia for free.

“Not only does this app provide users with a local phone number for free, it opens up a simple line of direct communication between the hotel and guest.”

Hotels can provide and receive requests for room service or advice at any location inside or outside the hotel during the guest’s stay.
