Glasgow swaps water for wine

Glasgow, Scotland is set to host a new 10 kilometre race on September 24 open only to those 18 or older that will offer runners different global wines at every two-mile rest stop instead of water.

The organiser, TeamOA, also organises a ‘chocolat-on’ for runners with a sweet tooth, and says the wine will cost a minimum of GBP7.50 and will be available to buy at the end of the race.

Managing director of TeamOA Wane Law said: "We've run previous events and the people who are doing the races are not die-hard runners, it's people bringing picnic blankets and making a day of it.
"We are capping entries at 600 to ensure we can run a safe event."

A local charity will benefit from the event and runners are encouraged to raise as much as possible, while prizes will be offered for 1st, 2nd and 3rd places and best fancy dress.
