Airport body search meet to focus on screening

The current screening systems at airport security checkpoints works, but is costly to the authorities, to the airline industry, and to passengers.

Given the predicted growth in air travel, continuously evolving security threats, and passengers being increasingly dissatisfied with queues and intrusive measures, a conference in London will discuss the sustainability of screening in the long term and possible alternatives.

The International Air Transport Association (IATA) and the Airports Council International envision an innovative screening process where passengers can proceed through security with minimal inconvenience, where security resources are allocated based on risk, and where airport facilities can be optimised.

The vision is called Smart Security and delegates to the Body Search conference will have an opportunity to hear from IATA’s

Paul Behan and Adrienne Gibbs on how the industry can deliver strengthened security, increased operational efficiency and an improved passenger experience.

The conference will take place 10-11 June at Riverside Venue, Hounslow in London. Delegate fees are GBP459 +VAT.
