Busy May for Brisbane Showgrounds

In Australia, Queensland’s biggest events precinct – Brisbane Showgrounds - is set for a bumper May, with a series of 34 national and local events featuring rugby league stars, politicians and financial experts to be staged across the Showgrounds and Royal International Convention Centre (Royal ICC).

Major events include the Labour Day Festival, which is expected to attract more than 25,000, the Illumi Run, the Pool, Spa and Outdoor Living Expo, the Brisbane Model Train Show and the Price Waterhouse Coopers (PwC) Federal Budget breakfast.

Sally Pulford, general manager venue sales and marketing Royal ICC said May would be one of the busiest months for the venue since its opening in March 2013.

“We have 34 events occurring across 30 days and will welcome high profile guests including former Australian prime minister John Howard at the PwC Federal Budget Breakfast plus the who’s who of rugby league at the Queensland Rugby League Naming of the Team Lunch.”

Pulford said the Brisbane Showgrounds was a proud venue sponsor for the Illumi Run on May 16, which is a new event for the precinct where guests run and dance their way through illumi glow water and dance zones.

“About 5000 people are expected to attend the Illumi run, which raises funds for the McGrath Foundation,’’ she said.

Other events in May include national conferences - Austmine Association Conference and Exhibition and the AGOSCI 12th Biennial Conference and the ATSA Independent Living Expo.

Since opening in March, 2013 the Royal ICC has held more than 300 events.
