Qantas says absorbing fuel surcharges won’t affect customers

Australia’s Qantas has completed an international tariff review that means from 01 July, fuel surcharges will be absorbed into base fares for all tickets issued where travel originates in Australia and is on the carrier’s own network.

The airline says the change won’t affect customers, as all-inclusive advertised prices already include ticket taxes, fees and carrier imposed charges.

“Qantas will continue to price competitively, with international fares moving in line with the broader market,” the carrier said.

"We believe our international fares continue to represent excellent value for customers. The real cost of international air travel has fallen by around 30 per cent over the past 10 years.”
