UAE firms to bid for French airport group?

As tourism to the region from the Middle East grows, UAE investment firms are said to be considering majority shareholder bids for Aéroports de la Côte d’Azur, the company that owns Nice, Cannes and San Tropez airports in the South of France.

The company is said to be worth at least EUR1.5 billion and to have reported EUR235 million of revenues in 2014. It is believed to be the most profitable airports group in France and one of the most profitable in Europe. As well as Nice, Cannes and San Tropez airports, it owns general aviation terminals in Madrid, Barcelona, Ibiza, Palma, Malaga and other European cities.

Some five UAE-based firms reportedly now have contacted Aéroports de la Côte d’Azur to express an interest when it comes on the market this northern autumn.
