Claimed to be Australia’s longest running publicly-owned short film festival, the St Kilda Film Festival this year will run Thursday 19 to Saturday 28 May 2016.
Launching with a red carpet gala event on Thursday 19 May at the Palais Theatre, the event will offer an insight into the ten-day program for more than 3,000 film-lovers, celebrities and special guests.
The ten-day Festival program, now in its 33rd year, will feature Australia’s Top 100 short film competition, an international program, the SoundKILDA music video competition, special screenings, a free filmmaker and development program.
With the event to be held for the second year at the St Kilda Town Hall, the venue will offer guests a state of the art sound and screening technology set amongst historical theatre seating and architecture.
The Festival will screen the Top 100 short film entries with a prize pool that totals over A$50,000 worth of cash and in-kind craft awards.
