Qantas 'family' to boost Tasmania services

Australia's Jetstar is to add four new weekly flights between Hobart, Tasmania and Avalon Airport, near Geelong in Victoria from March next year.

Tasmanian premier Will Hodgman said the new Jetstar flights had the capacity to bring an extra 37,000 people to the island state each year.

“Most visitors to Tasmania come from Victoria and last year (the total) grew by more than 10 per cent to almost 450,000,” he said.

There also will be 11 more QantasLink (like Jetstar, QantasLink is a Qantas group airline) flights each week between Hobart and the mainland cities of Sydney and Melbourne, again starting in March.
