IPP to be IATA BSP and CASS default policy

International Passenger Protection (IPP) is to be the Default Insurance Policy (DIP) for the IATA BSP and CASS agents in Australia.

Welcoming the move, the Australian Federation of Travel Agents (AFTA) chief executive Jayson Westbury said: “AFTA has a long history with Gow-Gates Insurance Brokers and an excellent working history with IPP. Together, these two organisations know the Australian travel industry and this is an important part of any provider in the IATA DIP market.

“IPP have been long time supporters of Australian travel agents and this announcement will ensure agents have appropriate access to DIP should it be needed for IATA accreditation.”

According to a recent release by Gow-Gates, DIP was pioneered by IPP in the early 90s as a ‘better’ alternative to traditional bank guarantees for agents and airlines. Today, IPP is the oldest and largest provider of DIP globally to IATA and provides agents with a competitive solution that does not tie up an agent’s cash or assets.

Agents whose current CBL policies expire or require replacement insurance coverage will be required to renew through IPP. IATA will be sending individual notices to all agents regarding the change of DIP provider along with specific instructions as it relates to the changeover.
