Venice, Italy officials want to stop visitors using trolley cases in the city due to noise, plus wear and tear on its cobbled streets.
City officials also are considering introducing steep fines from May for anyone flouting the ban.
If approved, Italian press reports say the new rules will require luggage to be transported on quieter pneumatic tires.
