Tourism NZ wins ‘Best International’ award

tourismTourism New Zealand has been awarded Best International Tourist Office for the second time in four years at the 2014 Australian Federation of Travel Agents (AFTA) National Travel Industry Awards.

Tony Saunders, general manager Australia Tourism New Zealand accepted the award acknowledging wholesale, retail, regional tourism organisations and airline partners.

"We're honoured to be recognised as the Best International Tourist Office in one of the most competitive tourism markets in the world," he said.

“Our team has delivered strong key initiatives over the past 12 months including ski, touring, special interests and coach campaigns, national Hobbit screenings across Australia to leverage New Zealand’s association with Middle-earth, The 100 per cent Pure New Zealand Specialist program and the re-launch of our travel trade web site.

“This award is very important to us, given over 40 per cent of arrivals are from Australia with holiday arrivals up 4.4 per cent per cent for the year ending June 2014.

“The strength of our industry partnerships is real testament to this success.

“To be awarded by the broader industry is a huge reward - it speaks volumes about how positively people perceive New Zealand,” said  Saunders.
