Solomon Islands plans biggest-ever Australian workshops

The biggest-ever Solomon Islands tourism mission to visit Australia - the Solomon Islands Visitors Bureau (SIVB) plus 12 local representatives and Solomon Airlines - will stage two major workshops in Sydney and Brisbane in May.

Venues for the workshops will be the Menzies Hotel in Sydney on 17 May and the Hilton Hotel Brisbane on 18 May.

Solomon Islands representatives joining the NTO and national carrier include Papatura Island Retreat and Maringe Lagoon Lodge from Santa Isabel, Ropiko Beach Resort and Uepi Island Resort from the Marovo Lagoon, Agnes Gateway Hotel in Munda, Tavanipupu Private Island Resort in Marau Sound, the Honiara Hotel, Tetepare Island and Solomon Islands Dive Expeditions (SIDE).

Traditional entertainment at both events will be provided by the Hagalu Pan Pipers from Santa Isabel.

SIVB chief executive, Josefa Tuamoto said the workshops were timely, given the recent release of visitor arrival statistics that show continued strong growth from the Australian market.

“Our Australian visitor numbers now account for close on 45 per cent of all international arrivals,” said Tuamoto.

Agents wishing to attend must register before 29 April.
