IAPCO members report changes

The annual member survey by the International Association of Professional Congress Organisers (IAPCO) shows members each organised an average of 113 events in 2015.

The total number of participants managed rose by 10.6 per cent, however the number of participants attending events fell from an average of 400 to 368. IAPCO attributed this change to greater specialisation, more targeted and relevant audiences, and participants only attending those events that benefited their professions.

The big change was the drop in room nights managed by IAPCO members, down sharply from 3.817 million to 2.429 million.

Employment with members is returning to pre-2012 levels, reaching 5400 in 2015.

IAPCO members in 2015 organised 8591 meetings, registered over 3.165 million participants, employed 5429 staff, with a total economic impact to local economies of  EUR5.12 billion.
