MICE markets focus on Sheraton Mirage upgrade

Australia’s Sheraton Mirage Port Douglas Resorts’ A$40 million dollar revitalisation is attracting attention within the meetings and conference (MICE) market, with the property seeing strong forward bookings for the next two years.

The iconic resort is undergoing a full renovation of guest rooms and facilities; it is due to be completed by June, 2016.
“Feedback has been incredibly positive from our MICE customers and interest is strong from the domestic market, in particular Melbourne, Sydney and Brisbane, as well as our neighbours in New Zealand.

“They are excited about the new and upgraded facilities and the creative ways we can host (from) large scale events down to small team building incentives,” said Nathan Gadd, director of sales and marketing, Sheraton Mirage Port Douglas.

The key upgrades include newly transformed contemporary guest rooms, refurbished function facilities including a ballroom, breakout rooms and a pre-function area and enhanced poolside areas with more useable outdoor spaces for stand-up receptions and seated dinners.

There also is a new poolside deck space designed to seat 120 people under a louvred roof, with a new bridge linking the fully refurbished ‘Mirage Island’ to other poolside areas allowing better flow around the poolside spaces, plus a new Lobby Café and upgrades to Feast Restaurant.
The resort is accessible from Cairns Airport, North Queensland.
