Barrister blames Malaysia Airlines for MH17 loss

An Australian barrister says Malaysia Airlines should take much of the blame for the loss of MH17 because it put the
aircraft in the path of danger.

298 people were killed when the Boeing 777 was shot out of the sky over Ukraine.
Sydney barrister David Chitty says the B777 was flying over a known conflict zone and only 1000 feet above restricted air
space.
“The question I would pose for the Malaysia operational people is ‘what were the crew expected to do if the airline had had
some mechanical failure or depressurisation when the airspace was closed beneath the aircraft?’.”
He said the final Dutch Safety Board report on the disaster made it clear Malaysia Airlines had not conducted adequate risk
assessment of flying through a known conflict zone.
