Vietnam govt selling down airline stake

Vietnam's national carrier Vietnam Airlines is expected to sell 8.77 per cent to Japan's ANA Holdings, news website Dau Tu reports.

Following the deal, the government will own 87.73 per cent of the airline and as Vietnam Airlines continues to sell more shares, that stake will fall over time to 65 per cent.

The carrier also has sold shares in 13 non-core businesses, including finance, insurance and real estate companies. It still has stakes in 19 companies, including budget airline Jetstar Pacific and Cambodia-based airline Angkor Air.
