Smoking is already banned in public areas such as shopping malls, hospitals, cinemas, sheltered walkways and any area within a five metre radius of a bus stop.
There is a limited period of grace as people get used to the new rules.
Fines of up to S$2000 will be imposed on those who continue to flaunt the new law.
