Brexit hits airlines

London's FTSE 100 index ended Friday 24th June (the day the UK's exit from the EU - Brexit - was announced) with airline stocks down.

Ryanair lost 14 per cent of its value, easyJet was down 18 per cent, IAG, parent of British Airways, down 20 per cent and Wizz Air down 21 per cent.

IAG said while it does not expect the Brexit vote to have a long-term material impact on its business, profit will take a hit in the short term.
