Lufthansa Group reports difficult first half

Lufthansa Group says revenues and profits were down by 2.1 per cent and 55 per cent respectively for the first half of the year compared to the same period in 2015.
As a result, it will reduce its full year forecast.


For January to June 2016, total revenue for the Group was US$16.88 billion. Profits fell by US$589 million over the same period to US$481.3 million, y-o-y.


For the cargo division, there was an operating loss of US$51.4 million - and it said it expects to see a full-year operating loss.


The Group’s cargo load factor for the period was 65.7 per cent, a 1.9 percentage-point drop on last year’s 67.6 per cent.


On the plus side, Group adjusted EBIT was up 11.9 per cent over 2015 to US$581.14 million and net debt was down.
