ANA grounds some B787s

Japanese airline All Nippon Airlines (ANA) has grounded some of its B787s to replace corroded compressor blades in the aircraft’s Trent 1000 engines produced by Rolls-Royce.

ANA has 49 of the type in service - more than 10pc of the 445 787s total delivered so far by Boeing.

The problem is understood to be connected to the way ANA uses the aircraft for short flights.

This means that the engines 'age' faster than if they were used on longer routes, meaning they need more-frequent servicing.
