May to head anti-terror bid

UK prime minister Theresa May is to launch plans for a crackdown on the terrorist threat to airlines at a UN summit in New York.

She is tipped to propose the world’s first United Nations Security Council resolution on aviation security.

Her plan is said to include committing countries to improve baggage checks at airports, step up passenger screening, share details of passengers and protect airport terminals.

May has said she wants Britain to lead the world in stepping up aviation security in the wake of recent attacks in Brussels, Istanbul and Egypt.
