Runway works delay new SIA service

Runway maintenance works at Jakarta’s Soekarno-Hatta International Airport in Indonesia have delayed the start of Singapore Airlines’ (SIA) planned new route linking Singapore, Jakarta and Sydney.

SIA had planned to launch three-times-weekly Singapore-Jakarta-Sydney flights on 23 November 2016. The Indonesian civil aviation authorities had issued SIA written approval, and SIA had secured the necessary airport slots.

However, SIA has been informed by the Indonesian civil aviation authorities that they are now unable to approve the flights due to runway maintenance works (which also affect other airlines).

SIA says it will progressively contact customers with bookings on the route and put them on other flights. No new start up date was announced.
