Ryanair boosts Stansted services, adds flights on existing routes

As airlines make contingency plans to counter any negative 'UK exiting the EU' (Brexit) effects, Irish budget carrier Ryanair has announced more flights on existing routes and new services to nine destinations from London Stansted airport that it hopes will take its passenger totals to in excess of 20 million a year.

It has introduced daily flights to Nice and Naples, plus a three-times-a-week service to Cagliari in Sardinia and routes to Copenhagen in Denmark and Bexiers, Clermont, Grenoble, Nimes and Strasbourg in France.

London Stansted said the additional routes by Ryanair marked exciting times for the airport.

The airport, which has been pushing for a second runway, currently has capacity for around 43 million passengers, but operates at around 24.5 million.
