Norwegian starts LCC partnership talks

Norwegian Air Shuttle says it wants partnerships with other European low-cost carriers (LCCs) such as Ireland's Ryanair and UK-based Easyjet - and it also might seek the same kinds of arrangements with US budget carriers.

The agreements, Norwegian ceo Bjørn Kjos said, would allow more European low-cost carriers to compete in the US, Europe, the Middle East and Asia.

"Passengers would have access to a huge network," said Kjos. "They could fly cheaply to a variety of destination airports we would never serve."

Negotiating an agreement with Ryanair is just the beginning, said Kjos, "It could (turn into) a low-cost alliance."
