Australia's love affair with tourism is tipped to continue, with Deloitte Access Economics saying tourism-related projects for the country are worth nearly A$20 billion.

Deloitte's data shows about 120 new hotels are likely to be built in the next four years, adding 30 per cent to the country's rooms supply.

Country wide, hotel occupancies stand at about 67 per cent, with Sydney and Melbourne at 90 per cent in peak times.

In the meantime, tourism is currently outperforming the coal industry and was worth A$53 billion in 2016.
