Papalia now WA's minister for Tourism

PapaliaPaulwebsmallPaul Papalia (right) has been appointed Western Australia's minister for Tourism following Labor's win in the state elections. 

He also takes on the portfolios of Racing and Gaming, Small Business, Defence Issues, Citizenship and Multicultural Affairs.

Born in Bunbury, Western Australia and raised in Burekup, he joined the Navy in 1978. 

His military career lasted 26 years, during which time he became a Navy clearance diver, served in the counter terrorist squadron of the Special Air Service Regiment and deployed twice to Iraq on operations.

His final military posting was as manager of the Navy’s submarine escape and rescue service.

He entered politics in February 2007, representing the seat of Peel, which was subsequently split and he was elected to the new seat of Warnbro. He was re-elected to the seat of Warnbro at the state election in 2013 and again in 2017.
