Tragedy art exhibition planned for WA

Sands WA will hold its third annual art exhibition – 'Art for Hope' – 06 -07 May at Hayward Studio in Kalamunda, Western Australia.
The exhibition, which will display pieces by renowned and emerging artists, aims to inspire hope to the thousands of parents and families that experience the tragedy of miscarriage, stillbirth and newborn death each year in Western Australia.
Exhibiting artists will also donate a percentage of the sale of their artwork to Sands Western Australia so that they can continue to provide essential support services to grieving parents and families around the clock.
Andre Carvalho, chief executive Sands Australia, has called on all members of the community to support the event saying: “Our focus at Sands is to support and provide understanding and hope to parents as they navigate through their journey of grief.
"An astonishing 96,000 babies die each year across Australia through miscarriage, stillbirth or in the first 28 days of their life, yet the topic still remains a taboo.
"We want to change this; we want to ensure all parents that go through this devastation know that they are not alone and there are support services such as Sands available around the clock."
The exhibition is open for general viewing:
When:   Saturday 6th and Sunday 7th May 2017 10am – 4pm.
Where: Hayward Studio, 96 Cotherstone Road, Kalamunda, WA.
Entry is free.
