Norwegian Air Shuttle's UK subsidiary Norwegian Air UK has received a tentative US foreign air carrier permit despite complaints from US carriers that the Scandinavian budget carrier will undercut them and hurt American businesses and jobs.

The US Department of Transportation said it had considered the arguments and rejected the US airlines' position against the airline's Irish unit, Norwegian Air International (NAI).

 

The DoT also said Norwegian had committed to hire American crew as well as EU workers.
