Fuel shortage hits Auckland flights

Auckland Airport, New Zealand is struggling to provide avgas for its airline customers after a fuel pipe burst, cutting supplies.
Fuel is now restricted to about 30 per cent of normal availability, with airlines asked to fly in carrying extra fuel.

Some NZ domestic and trans-Tasman flights have been cancelled and Air New Zealand's flights to North America are landing in Fiji to refuel en route.

The airport has no firm date for full resumption of services, but suggests it could take two weeks.

"We are doing everything we can to respond,” Air New Zealand said in a statement.

The fuel shortage resulted in the cancellation of approximately 27 domestic and international flights last weekend, said Auckland Airport.
