JAL orders 42 planes

Japan Airlines (JAL) has ordered 42 Boeing and Airbus aircraft - including its first-ever non-Boeing narrowbody purchase.

The 42 include the Airbus A350-900, Airbus A321neo and Boeing 787-9, but Airbus has received the majority, with only 10 B787s from Boeing.

JAL now has 76 aircraft on order, including a previous purchase of 21 MAX 8s, expected to be delivered from 2026.
