O'Leary calls Frontier initiative 'bullshit'

Ireland's Ryanair Group ceo Michael O'Leary says US Frontier Airlines' new 'blocked middle seat' product on the first two rows is "bullshit" and the airline would do better to sell all its seats and take the associated ancillary revenues.

He said: "If you sell all the seats, you have the opportunity of selling somebody a snack, a coffee, a sandwich, a scratch card.

"Last year our average fare was about EUR44, but our ancillary revenue per passenger was close to EUR21-22. So, we think it (the Frontier scheme) makes no sense. Instead of blocking the middle seat, you would be better off to get another body on board."
