Rex moves simulator to Sydney

Australian regional carrier Rex says its Boeing 737NG Full Flight Simulator (FFS) has been certified by the Australian Civil Aviation Safety Authority (CASA) and is ready for use in its new Mascot, Sydney home.

The FFS can be configured for 737-700 and 737-800 variants and is approved for Upset Prevention and Recovery Training (UPRT).

Rex general manager Flight Operations and chief pilot Paul Fisher said: “This is an important milestone ... adding synergies to our own training requirements (and providing) training opportunities for external operators both inside and outside of Australia.”

Rex operates a fleet of Saab 340 and Boeing 737-800NG aircraft to 56 destinations throughout Australia.

As well as the airline Rex, the group comprises wholly owned subsidiaries Pel-Air Aviation (air freight, aeromedical and charter operator), the Australian Airline

Pilot Academy with campuses in Wagga Wagga and Ballarat, and Australian Aerospace Propeller Maintenance.

Rex also is a 50 per cent shareholder in National Jet Express (NJE), a premier Fly-In-Fly-Out (FIFO), charter and freight operator.
