Sting jet will need a new power source

Plans are in train for a supersonic nuclear-powered plane that would fly from London, UK to New York, USA in less than two hours.

The Hyper Sting would have capacity for 170 passengers and travel at 4,287 km/h (2,664 mph).

Its Barcelona, Spain-based designer Oscar Viñals says it's potentially the next generation of air travel, with speed and power most important.

The Sting will have two ramjet engines powered by a small cold-fusion nuclear reactor that doesn’t yet exist.
