Budget European carriers hiking summer fares

European airlines have in some cases increased fares from the UK to Spain by more than 40 per cent for the northern summer, according to travel data firm Mabrian, which says it has seen average budget airline fares hit GBP156.


Mabrian’s sample (taken in early April) was for travel from 1 June to 15 September this year. 

Mabrian said budget airlines accounted for 68.5 per cent of all seats available on flights from and to Spain, with 37.6 million available this summer, compared to 17.4 million on full service airlines.
