IAG to bid for TAP?

IAG (British Airways and partner Iberia) are believed to be ready to meet all comers in the race to acquire Portuguese flag carrier TAP.

It is believed preliminary talks already have taken place, but IAG is not expecting an easy path, with TAP's routes to Brazil and Africa expected to make it attractive to carriers contesting those regions' traffic.

TAP made a EUR3.5 million loss last year.

It is being sold as part of the conditions of its government's bailout by the EU.
