Middle East carriers to buy most planes - Boeing

Planemaker Boeing says Middle East airlines alone will increase the global fleet by 2340 planes between now and 2029, an increase of 150 per cent on the region's current aircraft inventory.

"We are at the beginning of an aviation upside cycle. (We believe) the Middle East will lead the world in traffic growth in future," said Boeing's vp marketing Randy Tinseth.

The Middle East has dominated traffic growth over the past two years and there is every indication that this trend will continue, Boeing believes.

Low-cost carriers also are expected to increase their regional capacity in terms of available seat miles (ASMs) compared to full-service airlines from four to 10 per cent by 2019.
