Japan’s Japan Airlines is to cut its workforce by 14 per cent, or around 6,800 employees. The country's flag carrier has been in union negotiations since reporting quarterly losses of almost US$1 billion in the quarter to end June.

Germany’s Lufthansa Cargo and national Croatian carrier Croatia Airlines (OU) are to extend their co-operation arrangement so that cargo management of Croatia Airlines’ flights from Germany to Croatia including handling, sales and accounting are provided by Lufthansa Cargo's local offices.   Croatia Airlines will continue marketing its flights out of Croatia.
