Kalitta feels the heat

US freight specialist Kalitta Air has parked eight of its 20 aircraft and laid off more than 200 of its 835 Oscoda employees after losses hit the ‘tens of millions’, according to Oscoda Division general manager Don Nolan.

BAWC adds new freighter

British Airways World Cargo (BAWC) has begun a B767-200 weekly freighter service between Bogota, Colombia and  Bridgetown, Barbados.  Operated by Intercargo Logistics Corporation, the launch coincides with the opening of a new US$600,000 cooling facility in Barbados, which provides additional capacity for perishable shipments to and from Bogota and other Latin American destinations.

BAWC cuts fuel surcharge

British Airways World Cargo (BAWC) has reduced its fuel surcharge effective 15 December. The surcharge will be GBP0.48 / USD0.70 / EUR0.70. Adam Carson, senior manager revenue management, BAWC said: "We are reducing the fuel surcharge following further declines in fuel prices.”

Bangkok, Thailand’s Suvarnabhumi airport was opened to cargo flights yesterday, but Serirat Prasutanond, managing director of Airports of Thailand (AOT) told Reuters the airport would remain closed to passenger flights until December 15, though later reports said it would reopen within days.
