Cargo strong performer for ANA

ANA Group reported consolidated revenue of JPY345.5billion and operating profit of JPY14.6 billion for the first quarter of fiscal year 2008, ended June 30, a drop of 1.2 per cent and an increase of 10.5 per cent respectively.  Net profit decreased 92.4 per cent year-on-year to JPY6.6 billion, accounted for by an extraordinary gain on the sale of ANA’s hotel properties in June 2007 which boosted the net profit reported in the first quarter of the previous year far beyond normal levels.

ALPA files suit against DHL

The US Air Line Pilots Association (ALPA), has filed a lawsuit against DHL Holdings USA (DHL), alleging breach of contract and fraudulent inducement. The suit was filed in the Court of Common Pleas in Clinton, Ohio, where DHL maintains its major sorting centre.

After two days claiming that striking ground staff and cabin crew had had almost no effect on services, Germany’s Lufthansa has had to extend its domestic and European flight cuts to include 78 long-haul flights including services to New York, Chicago, Calcutta and Calgary.

Australian domestic low cost carrier (LCC) Tiger Airways Australia is seeking international flight rights. Tiger's international group already flies in and out of Perth and Darwin, but Commonwealth legislation says domestic carriers must have majority Australian ownership to fly internationally.
