With 21 virtual events in 2021, the British International Freight Association’s Young Forwarder Network (YFN) has become fully established.

That feat comes less than three years after the YFN was launched by BIFA in March 2019, and is made all the more impressive considering the massive disruption caused to the freight and logistics sector, and BIFA members, from Covid-19 and the UK’s exit from the European Union over that time.

Cargo traffic increase at FRA

Cargo throughput (airfreight + airmail) at Germany’s Frankfurt Airport (FRA)  saw a slight decrease for the first time this year, slipping by 1.2 per cent year-on-year to 192,298 tonnes in November. Compared to November 2019, cargo traffic was up 3.0 per cent. Aircraft movements continued to climb by 125.6 per cent year-on-year to 28,882 takeoffs and landings in November 2021. Accumulated maximum takeoff weights (MTOWs) increased by 72.9 per cent year-on-year to around 1.8 million  tonnes.

Sustainability is a new award category introduced this year. 
The award was given following a two-stage vetting process, with the final decision being made by a panel of 12  judges and industry observers.
