Expeditors reports profits hit by 'uncertain' market conditions

Seattle, US-based forwarder Expeditors reports its profits declined in Q2 despite airfreight revenues improving by 14.5 per cent and volumes by 15 per cent. However, airfreight expenses rose by 22.9 per cent compared to 2023 and its ocean business also suffered.

Korean Air reports record revenue quarter

Korean Air says its Q2 2024 financial results show a record quarterly revenue of KRW4.0237 trillion (US$2.8964 billion), representing a 14 per cent increase year-on-year. 
Revenue from the passenger business rose by 10 per cent year-on-year to KRW2.4446 trillion.

Hactl opens lithium battery zone

Hong Kong Air Cargo Terminals Limited (Hactl) has opened a dedicated Lithium Batteries Storage Zone, equipped with CO2 fire suppression systems and fire-proof partitions to segregate battery cargo from other shipments. 
Increased provision of fire extinguishers will also help to contain any battery fire and reduce the risk of spread.
The new zone will be clearly indicated by LED signage across its multiple floor levels, to ensure all battery cargo is correctly stored and that retrieval is more efficient.
