Pilot dies of natural causes

A Continental Airlines transatlantic flight yesterday had to make an emergency landing at Newark airport, near New York after its pilot died in the cockpit mid-flight. The Boeing 777, carrying 247 passengers from Brussels to the New Jersey airport, touched down safely after two co-pilots took the controls. Continental said the 60-year-old captain, who had flown for the airline for 32 years and was based at Newark, "died in flight, apparently of natural causes".
