UK-based Virgin Atlantic says its pre-tax profits nearly doubled during the year to end February at GBP68.4 million, up from GBP34.8 million the previous year. The carrier said the improved results came from an increase in first and business class passengers.

Asia-Pacific airlines carried 5.8 per cent fewer passengers in April this year than April 2008, according to the Association of Asia Pacific Airlines (AAPA), which says members’ international passenger revenue kilometres fell 8.2 per cent year on year and international passenger load factor fell two percentage points to 72.3 per cent.

US carrier Continental Airlines Cargo has selected the CSafe LLC AcuTemp RKN container as part of its structured cold chain program.  The AcuTemp RKN is a non-dry ice compressor-driven refrigeration unit permitted in the cargo section of passenger aircraft, according to CSafe.
