SATS buys into SFI

Singapore Airport Terminal Services (SATS), the ground-handling unit of Singapore Airlines, is to purchase Temasek Holdings's 70 per cent stake in Singapore Food Industries. The S$334.5 million acquisition is tipped to help shield SATS from a slowdown in flight catering and ground-handling as air travel declines.

Traffic and capacity both rose, but the Latin American Air Transport Association says its members’ airfreight ton kilometres decreased 18.6 per cent in November and 12.2 per cent year-to-date.  Passenger numbers were up 1.2 per cent at 9.7 million passengers carried in November.

Singapore inks OSA with Czech Republic

Singapore and the Czech Republic have signed an Open Skies Agreement (OSA). Under the OSA, Singapore carriers may operate any number of flights between Singapore and points in the Czech Republic, as well as beyond the Czech Republic to any other city in the world.  Similarly, carriers from the Czech Republic will be able to operate any number of flights to and beyond Singapore.
