Dubai launches e-freight

Dubai-based Emirates airline and Dubai Customs are co-ordinating the introduction of the IATA e-freight program to Dubai, the first city in the Middle East to do so and only the 14th e-freight location worldwide to deliver paper-free cargo. The initiative went “live” earlier this week on the trade lanes between Dubai and Singapore, Hong Kong and London.

Don't you wish you could have been a fly on the wall at the TSB meeting? The Canadian Press reports that country's Transportation Safety Board (TSB) is assessing an airsafety incident but has not decided yet whether to investigate after a cargo and a passenger aircraft clipped each other in the air as they were landing in clear daylight in a remote northern Labrador community.

Malaysia Airlines’ MASkargo, its freighter arm, says it expects a marginal increase in revenue this year. Revenue forecast for 2008 is US$800 million, compared with last year's $785 million, contributing 22 per cent of total group revenue, said MASkargo's managing director Shahari Sulaiman.
