Evergreen gets green light for China flights

Evergreen International Airlines has been given the green light by the US Department of Transportation to operate all-cargo flights in the US-China aviation market.  Evergreen, if granted final authority, will operate six round-trip flights per week to Shanghai from New York with additional traffic stops in Chicago, Dallas/Fort Worth and Columbus, Ohio.

UK carrier British Airways has cancelled all six weekly flights to the Pakistani capital Islamabad “indefinitely” amid security concerns after the bombing of the Marriott hotel there. Earlier it had said the suspension was temporary.

Abbas Haji has joined Emirates SkyCargo, Dubai, as vice-president cargo - commercial development, reporting directly to Ram Menen, divisional senior vice-president cargo. In his new role, he is responsible for driving the development of the carrier's  “Priority” portfolio, including courier, express and mail. The three Priority products experienced an average of 30 per cent growth in the 2007-08 financial year and are on track to achieve further growth this year.

New directors include Mark Barraclough, Logistics Sales, Dexion (Aust); Joanne Buchanan, Growth by Design; Denis Horder, Denis Horder & Associates; Suzanne Marshall, Komatsu account manager - CEVA Logistics and Mark Pearce, Dexion Integrated Systems. They are joined by committee members Peter Brennan, Joe Famularo, Sunny Garewal, George Hodgson, Kate Hughes, Tim Knox, John Mak, Conor O'Malley, Mike Owen, Bob Partridge, Kim Rothwell and Mal Walker.
