Alitalia rescue – the details

The concessions offered by the rescue consortium for beleaguered Italian carrier Alitalia include a commitment by the company to consider 1000 temporary Alitalia workers for seasonal jobs and other positions during the first three months of operations and a pledge not to cut the salaries of pilots and cabin crew by more than seven per cent.

In Argentina, Congress has decided that it must approve the purchase price of Aerolineas Argentinas before the country can re-nationalise the airline, which is burdened by US$890m debts.  The Spanish owner, Marsans, agreed to sell Aerolineas in July at a price to be set ‘with the government’.
