Virgin seeks Nigeria exit

UK-based Virgin Group’s Virgin Atlantic is in discussions to sell its 49 per cent stake in Virgin Nigeria over a dispute with that country’s government.  The carrier has accused Nigeria’s government of using underhand tactics to try to force Virgin Nigeria to move its domestic services away from the international terminal at Lagos, the country’s commercial capital.

The call came from Giovanni Bisignani, IATA’s director general and chief executive speaking in Sydney earlier this week.

Deutsche Post, DHL’s parent, says it is finalising redundancy plans for staff affected by the change.
