Air China cargo up, passengers down

China’s Air China says its cargo load factor was 58.9 per cent in July, up 3.3 percentage points year-on-year, and it shipped 81,626 tons of freight, up 7.8 per cent. Passenger numbers for July were down 6.8 per cent from a year earlier to 2.98 million passengers, largely due to heightened security measures for the Olympic Games and slowing global demand, the carrier said.

Gregg quits Qantas

Qantas Airways confirmed today that Peter Gregg would step down as chief financial officer (CFO) and as a member of the airline’s Board on 30 September. He will be succeeded as CFO by Colin Storrie, currently the deputy CFO.  Storrie will assume the CFO role and take a place on the Qantas Board on 30 September. Gregg will assist with the transition to a new CFO and leave Qantas on 31 December 2008.

Korean Airlines Cargo has confirmed a change to its Australian schedule. Effective 02 September, the carrier will change to an evening departure coinciding with an upgrade in operating equipment in Melbourne from A330-200 to B777-200.
