BAWC OPENS FREIGHTER ROUTE FROM PRESTWICK

BA World Cargo is introducing a new freighter route to the US from Prestwick (PIK) airport from October 11. The new cities are Atlanta (twice a week) and then Chicago and Huston (once a week) and have been developed says BAWC in response to an increase in exports of heavy manufacturing goods from the region.

British-based low-cost carrier Ryanair is reported to have launched a €1.48bn (A$2.38 billion) bid to buy Aer Lingus. Ryanair said it had bought a 16 per cent stake in Aer Lingus and was offering €2.80 (A$4.76) per share for remaining stocks.

Gary Taylor has been appointed general manager Toll Air Services Australia. Based in Sydney, Taylor replaces Peter Kuti, who has left the company. Taylor was previously general manager, Toll Rail New Zealand.
